Newnham St. Peter's Primary School
Although now housed in modern accommodation which opened in 1979, Newnham St Peter’s C of E Primary has enjoyed a long and successful life. In fact, the school’s history stretches back to 1842 when the National School was opened in Newnham High Street.
This then became a church school and was situated in Church Road opposite the Peace Garden at St Peter`s Church Newnham.
The Victorian building fell into disrepair and in 1970 the PTFA decided to fight for a brand new school. Their hard work was rewarded and in 1979 this present school was built. In contrast to the original buildings, the present School is located on a quiet, green field site on the edge of the village. The buildings offer spacious, pleasant work and play areas; a large multi-purpose hall used for worship, physical education and lunches; a central well-stocked library; a fantastic outside Reception class, networked computers and laptops with access to the internet; a large playing field; vegetable garden and a newly renovated Forest garden. |
